Antonio “Tony” DeFilippo, of Wellesley, died April 28, 2017 at the age of 88. Born in Everett to the late Vincenzo and Philomena DeFilippo, he was a graduate of Everett High School and earned a Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering at University of Rhode Island.
He married Mary Louise (D’Andrea) in 1954 and settled in Wellesley to raise their three children. The couple celebrated 57 years of marriage before her death in 2011.
Mr. DeFilippo was the co-founder of the Wellesley Corporation, a building and development company responsible for many commercial building projects.
He is survived by his children Vincent DeFilippo of Thompson, CT, Carol Lazzaro of Marlboro, and Robert DeFilippo of Wellesley. Dear brother of Madeline Vertullo of Saugus, Gerald DeFilippo of Hingham and the late Vincent DeFilippo. Also survived by 4 grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 4 at 11AM in the Henry J. Burke & Sons Funeral Home, 56 Washington St. Wellesley followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. An hour of visitation will be held prior to the service from 10-11AM. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. DeFilippo’s memory may be made to The Alzheimer’s Assoc of MA.
