Carolynn Grow Ross, August 2, 2017 Of Newton, in her 94th year.
Wife of 70 years to the late Don H. Ross Sr., mother of Don H. Ross, Jr., and his wife Susan, late wife Sandra, Priscilla Ross, Stephen Ross, Gary Ross and his wife Maureen, Stuart Ross and his wife Maria, Martha Ross Tobias and her husband Dave. Grandmother to Andrew Ross, the late Phillip Ross, Hannah Tobias, Sarah Tobias, Don H. Ross, III, and Julia Ross.
Born 1924 in Troy, NY, Carolynn graduated from Vassar College a member of the class of 1945-4, the “Class with a Dash” whose graduation was accelerated to facilitate the war effort. With her degree in math, Carolynn worked as a calculator at the MIT Wright Brothers Wind Tunnel where she met Don H. Ross. She became a mother of six, an unofficial parent to more still, and always a dear friend to countless many. A shining member of the “Greatest Generation,” her unwavering energy, enthusiasm, and true love of family and community led to decades of volunteer service and nearly a century of joy, generosity and kindness to all who knew her. She will always be remembered and forever missed.
