Carten, Helen A. (Murphy), 93, of Auburndale, died peacefully August 28, 2017 at the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice in Wayland, MA, surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife of the late Andrew S. Carten Jr. Devoted mother of Ann Verrilli and her husband John of Belmont, Margaret Carten and her husband Robert Crosby of Gloucester, Andrew S. Carten and his wife Maria of Lawrenceville, NJ, Marie Carten of Newton, Robert Carten and his wife Laura of Portland, ME, Mary Carten and her husband Ronald Gehrke of San Francisco, CA, Janice Steinberg and her husband David of Sudbury, Paul Carten of Belmont. Dear sister of the late Neil Murphy, Eugene Murphy, Joseph Murphy, Francis Murphy, William Murphy, Ina Connolly and Nora Mae Anglin. Loving grandmother of Juliana, Caitlin, Andrew, Michael, Elissa, Drew, Owen, Peter and Melissa. Also survived by many cherished nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to honor Helen’s life during visiting hours Friday evening, Sept. 1 from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St., (Rte. 16), West Newton and again on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 9:00 AM, followed by a Funeral Mass in Corpus Christi - St. Bernard Church, 1529 Washington St., West Newton at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Holyhood Cemetery, Chestnut Hill.
