Kevin Rooney, of Falmouth, lifelong resident of Newton, October 22, 2017 at the age of 68. Son of the late Thomas J. and Julianna M. (Matthews) Rooney. Loving father of Kimberly Appleton and the late Todd M. Rooney. Father-in-law of Melissa Yancey. Dear grandfather to Thomas Rooney Yancey and Caroline Rooney Yancey of Arizona. Survived by his companion Rose Annese and her son Jarrod; his brother John M. Rooney and wife Deborah Mason-Rooney of MD, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Thomas J. Rooney, Jr.
Mr. Rooney was a proud veteran of the US Marines, having served in Vietnam and was a Firefighter for the City of Newton for 30 years.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, October 27 at 10:30 AM in Our Lady’s Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington St. Newton, followed by interment in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8 PM in the Burke & Blackington Funeral Home, 1479 Washington St. West Newton.
