Obituary for Louise Elizabeth McCoy (Hubbard)

Louise Hubbard McCoy, 98, died peacefully on Sunday, October 13 at North Hill in Needham. The daughter of Louis Ives Hubbard and Grace (Goodno) Hubbard of Rochester, Vermont, she was a resident of Wellesley, MA before moving to Rutland, VT where she lived for many years.
The wife of the late Byron McCoy, she was predeceased by her son, Allen Huntington McCoy. She is survived by her son Roger McCoy of Wellesley and his wife Marisa, her grandson Dr. Christopher McCoy and his wife Elisa Morris of Sherborn, her granddaughter Ariane McCoy Oliver and her husband Dr Steven Oliver of Marlborough, and her great granddaughter Andromache Oliver.
She was the sister of late Marion Carey Cook, and is survived by her sister Janet Metcalf and her husband Thomas of Kailua, HI, a niece Karen Wolfe, and nephews Kyle, Craig and Scott Metcalf of Hawaii, and the Reverend Edward Carey of Rochester, NY. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Middlebury College, she studied at the Sorbonne in Paris. She taught French at Dana Hall School in Wellesley, and was an accomplished pianist and patron of the arts, active in founding Crossroads Art Council in Rutland. She served for Vermont on the Advisory Commission for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington. She maintained many friendships during her long active life during which she enjoyed entertaining, volunteering, traveling, playing her music, and vacationing in her hometown of Rochester, VT.
